Just you wait.
Easily a king of spoken word + a rising queen + the Xclusive ones = a force contained in a track enough to break that replay button.
“Stay Up, True To Livin’”…coming very soon.

Perserverance - “A never give up attitude under any circumstance(s)…”
This was definitely the theme for the past week. Wednesday January 25, we started the basic arrangement. A week later was when the madness started. February 1st marked the first recording session. Went from 10:00pm or so… Until 4:00am. We got about 50-60% of the song finished. Thursday night we recorded from 11:00pm until 4:30am. Finished the piano and vocals. Friday was an off day. Saturday was my recording session from 11:30pm until about 4:00am. Sunday was the video shoot from 8:00am until 12:00noon. Monday was another recording session from 10:00pm until 12:00midnight. This was all going on with school (8am classes), rehearsals with my school groups, work, a gig (PCN Orientation) and all of that jazz; no pun intended.
This whole week I’ve been chopping it up and mentoring one of our artists, and a good friend of mine, because he hasn’t had any experience working with Angelo and I in the studio. He’s never really had intricate recording sessions like the ones he had. So I’ve been explaining to him the mentality and mindset you should have going into the session. “Easier said than done.”
So Saturday night, I had a four hour recording session. And by far, it was probably the WORST recording session I have ever had. I couldn’t come up with my licks, I sounded just off, it sounded so forced and unnatural, and my timing seemed terrible! Take it. I’m a fairly confident person all around. You put music before me, better yet, my saxophone, and I’m golden. I feel like there isn’t anything I can’t do so long as it prolongs to music. I was incredibly discouraged and felt like I did injustice to a track that the four other people, especially the three vocalists worked so hard on during two four hour back to back late night recording sessions.
The entire time on Sunday’s video shoot I was cringing at the my parts. I was really discouraged in that my four hour session we cut probably 50%-70% of the material. I was *THIS CLOSE* to asking to just be cut from the track completely. Which would have been the easy way out. Instead. I called in, asked for a second session and had a small two hour window to redeem myself. The entire day Monday from the minute I woke up I spent not really practicing, but mentally psyching myself out. Saying that I had to show up, get it done, and play my part (literally). Come the session. I had probably the BEST recording session I’ve ever had. And my part isn’t all that significant.
I always tell my friends and my fellow musicians, when you struggle and you get frustrated are the best times. That’s when you really grow and you shine through. I hope you hear all the hard work that was put in the past week and a half. I’m so excited for you all to hear the track, because our executive producer, and our three vocalists really put their heart and soul into it.
Stay tuned. Please!
A great update about the work we’ve been doing this past week. DEFINITELY STAY TUNED FOR AN AWESOME TRACK THAT WILL BE RELEASED NEXT WEEK :) BE EXCITED!
